Videography

Students discussed the importance of representation in media, more specifically in movies and television. We talked about how more minority relevant television shows improve the perception of different cultures. Then students practiced recording themselves using green screen filming techniques.

In discussing media representation, we recognized movies and shows that represent people of color. We discussed why it's important for underrepresented communities to have people to look up to and idolize. Below are some movies and shows that the students found to have good representation.

 

Christopher Washington

Our guest speaker Christopher Washington is a Rochester native who took his time to talk to the students about how his love for videography gave him a world of opportunities. He presented the importance of finding one's passion and being able to build a brand based on those interests. Chris is a motivational speaker, videographer, and entrepreneur with a clothing line called Top Flight.
